Hyderabad, Sept. 30: All meat shops and slaughterhouses within Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits will remain closed on October 2 to mark Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary.
The closure will cover cattle, sheep and goat slaughterhouses, along with retail meat and beef shops.
GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan announced the directive on Wednesday. He said the order was issued under Section 533(b) of the GHMC Act, 1955, following a resolution of the GHMC Standing Committee.

Karnan also requested Hyderabad Police Commissioner to support municipal authorities in enforcing the closure.
The directive applies to all cattle, sheep and goat slaughterhouses and meat and beef shops within GHMC limits.
