Hyderabad, Sept. 30: Dilshada Raihan of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) has been elected president of the University of Hyderabad Students’ Union.
The AISA, ASA, DSU, SFI and TSF alliance secured victories in the students’ union elections. The results were declared on Wednesday following closely contested polls among three major alliances.
Raihan secured 2,178 votes, defeating Naresh P of the ABVP-SLVD alliance by 451 votes.
AISA-ASA-DSU-SFI-TSF Alliance Wins Key UoH Posts
Korra Nithin Chauhan of TSF won the vice-president post with 1,608 votes. Meanwhile, Pratik of ASA secured the general secretary position.
The alliance also won the joint secretary and cultural secretary posts. Sidhant of AISA and Abhinash of ASA secured the respective positions.
This year’s elections featured three major alliances: AISA-ASA-DSU-SFI-TSF, PDSU-MSF-Fraternity-NSUI and ABVP-SLVD.
Around 80 per cent of the 5,900 registered voters cast their ballots on Monday. A total of 220 candidates contested nine central posts and 59 school board councillor seats across 13 schools.
Counting began on Tuesday afternoon and continued until the early hours of Wednesday.
