GHMC Starts New Ward System To Resolve Public Issues In A Less Time

Hyderabad, June 16: Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi said that the ward system has been inaugurated in 150 divisions across the city to solve the public problems within a fixed period of time. Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi inaugurated the Banjara Hills Ward Office, Himayat Nagar Melkoti Park, LB Nagar Lingojiguda, Ramantapur Vivek Nagar on the occasion of the inauguration of the Ward Office.

Speaking on this occasion, the mayor of the city said that the state government has implemented the ward system under the GHMC like nowhere else in the country. With better governance, welfare is at the forefront of development. She said that the head office, zone, circle offices and ward offices have been made available to the citizens. She said that one ward has been established for a population of 40 thousand. Ten staff members including Ward Administrative Officer, Ward Engineer, Ward UBD Supervisor, Vidyut, Sanitary Jawan, Town Planner, Community Organizer, Water Board, Entomology, Computer Operator will be working in the ward office from 10 am to 5 pm.

The mayor said that people have set up a ward office with the staff of all departments instead of going around the offices to solve their problems. In the ward system, public issues are registered by the computer operator and immediately forwarded to the concerned department officer. She said that the problems will be resolved promptly following the Citizen Charter. Actions will be taken against the officials who are negligent in solving the problem, she said. She said it will take some time to settle the ward system.

Complaints received from any area should be forwarded to the concerned authorities without sending them back. Even if the roads are not cleaned through sanitation at the ward level, they should respond quickly to problems like street light maintenance, catch pits and work to solve the problems quickly. She said that potholes, silt, catch pit problems should be solved within 24 hours, water storage, storm water removal within 48 hours, foot path repairs within 72 hours, garbage collection from every house. Anti-larvae operations should be conducted within 24 hours, she said. Pet dogs licenses should be given within 7 days, dead animals should be removed within 24 hours, she said. She said that through Asara Vikasam, ID cards for senior citizens, disabled people should be resolved within 15 days.

She said that the unresolved issues at the ward level should be forwarded to the circle and zone offices. He said that the corporator should take help to solve the ward level problems. Himayat Nagar ward office was inaugurated by Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi along with Khairatabad MLA Danan Nagender.
