Hyderabad, July 30: The Godavari River continued to swell at Kaleshwaram in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Thursday, with water levels rising due to heavy rainfall in the upper catchment areas.
Officials said the river was flowing at a height of 6.25 metres on Thursday morning and warned that the flood flow could increase further by evening if heavy inflows continue.
The Medigadda Lakshmi Barrage is receiving an inflow of 1,01,530 cusecs, while an equal volume of 1,01,530 cusecs is being released downstream to manage the rising water levels.
Authorities have intensified monitoring of the Godavari River and the barrage as floodwaters continue to increase. Officials remain on high alert and are closely tracking inflows to ensure timely flood management.
The rise in the river level has been attributed to persistent heavy rainfall in the upstream regions, which has significantly increased water discharge into the Godavari basin.
Officials said the situation is under constant surveillance and appropriate measures will be taken if inflows increase further.
