Godavari’s water level drops, but still above the danger level

Kothagudem, July 17: The River Godavari’s level at Bhardachalam has been dropping as a result of a modest reduction in inflows from the upper reaches. Godavari’s water level was over 71 feet on Saturday afternoon, but it began to drop that evening and only reached 64 feet on Sunday morning.

However, the authorities warned that there was still a flood hazard and advised the public to exercise caution for another 24 hours. They stated that all necessary steps had been taken.

Even though the floods have subsided, hundreds of villages are still submerged. At Bhadradri, the third caution is still in effect. Villagers from flood-affected areas will need to spend an additional two to three days in rehabilitation facilities. They were informed by officials that they must remain at these centers till the Godavari water level reaches the second warning and stays there.

75 rehabilitation facilities house 25,975 individuals from 7,545 households who reside in 87 villages across nine mandals in the Kothagudem district. Floods caused thousands of acres of crop loss. Roads were closed, electric poles were uprooted, and public transportation was completely halted.
