Godrej Oil Palm Factory Inaugurated In Khammam

Khammam, July 20: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Sunday inaugurated the Godrej Oil Palm Factory at Anjanapuram in Konijerla mandal of Khammam district.

Speaking on the occasion, Tummala welcomed the establishment of the Godrej oil palm facility and said it would strengthen support for farmers engaged in oil palm cultivation. He noted that the complex includes a modern seed garden and expressed confidence that the company would provide quality services to farmers.

The Agriculture Minister said Telangana is leading the country in oil palm cultivation. He added that the State aims to expand cultivation to 10 lakh acres and urged farmers to take up the crop.

He said oil palm offers better returns and assured farmers that the government is providing the necessary support for its cultivation.

Tummala stated that three oil palm processing factories have already been completed in the State, while six more are under construction. He added that the Revanth Reddy government aims to establish oil palm factories across all districts.

The Minister also said leaders from southern states are seeking a reduction in import duty on palm oil and appealed to the Central government to extend its support.

Drawing from his five decades of farming experience, Tummala said oil palm is among the most profitable crops he has cultivated. He recalled that he has been growing oil palm since it was introduced during the tenure of former Chief Minister N. T. Rama Rao.

Referring to changing weather patterns, the Minister said the impact of El Niño has affected monsoon conditions, particularly in South India. He urged farmers to adopt horticulture and plantation crops to improve environmental sustainability and help moderate rising temperatures.
