Good News For Hyderabadis: Breakfast For Rs. 5

Hyderabad, Sept 29 (Maxim News): Further strengthening the food security of sections of the city like the poor, laborers, auto drivers and students, canteens were opened today (Monday, September 29). The canteens set up in Moti Nagar and Khairatabad Mint Compound were inaugurated by Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and mayor Gadwal vijayalakshmi.

Th9is special scheme, which provides meals for just Rs. 5, is already helping thousands of people. Currently, 150 canteens are running under GHMC, benefitting an average of 30,000 people per day. So far, 12.3 crore meals have been distributed, spending over Rs. 254 crore.

These new canteens have modern food containers, seating facilities, drinking water RO plant, hand washing facilities, drainage and electricity connections.

The main objective is to provide tasty and hygienic meals to the beneficiaries. Plans to also provide breakfast every day will be implemented soon. Officials believe that the inauguration of Indiramma Canteens will be another step towards a hunger-free Hyderabad. (Maxim News)
