The Chief Guest Her Excellency Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, Hon’ble Governor of Telangana and Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Puducherry while addressing the gathering said a good secretary makes or breaks your career. A lot of us feel blessed when we get a good understanding spouse or a good teacher in an educational institution. The boss and secretary relationship are in no way different. Many of us hear people say they must have done some Punya (good deeds) at previous birth, because of which got good secretary, she added. We spend more time with our secretary than our family members. Similarly, Company Secretaries who are Governance professionals are a blessing to any organisation for their success, she said.

She advised company professionals to keep challenging goals. Referring to what Prime Minister Modi said once when people criticised his lofty goal of achieving a 5 trillion dollar economy when we could achieve just 3 trillion dollars in the entire 70 years of Independence, PM Modi said, it is possible if you keep challenging targets.

Referring to Bhagavadgita, Swamy said it is an Indian contribution to the world’s peace and prosperity.

He gave six parameters for good governance to Governing professionals which include

  1. Anubhnadham—before starting any action see if it will lead to future bonding
  2. Ksayam(destruction) —see if your action will lead to any destruction
  3. Himsam, whether it creates any distress to others
  4. Anapeksham, see if your action brings any disregard to statutes
  5. Paurusam, don’t be headstrong that I can manage, sometimes it may not be possible to manage. So have some self-sanction on things
  6. Mohat, don’t be under the illusion in wrong interpretations

Finally, he told them to practice aachar prachar meaning preach what you practice and not what you don’t practice
