Govt Invited International Tenders to Lease Out ORR: Aravind Kumar

Hyderabad, May 3 (Maxim News): HMDA Commissioner Arvind Kumar has categorically stated that the State government invited International tenders to lease out Outer Ring Road (ORR) to collect toll charges for 30 years after the approval of the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s cabinet.

The issue of tenders of ORR has become controversial as the leaders belonging to all the opposition parties are accusing of corruption and favouritism in the sanction of the tenders and also alleging that all the rules have been violated and even threaten to complain to CBI and ED on this issue.

The HMDA Commissioner clarifying on the issue to the press persons said that the ORR tenders have been issued as per National Highway of India Rules. ORR bidding was done at the International level. He said that toll charges are being collected as per Toll Free Rules 2008. He said that for 30 years, whoever entrusts the ORR is fully responsible.

He also made it clear that the government had invited international tenders only after the approval of the Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao cabinet. He said that ORR bidding was done at the International level and anyone can bid. He said that it is not correct that private individuals are collecting toll as they like. (Maxim News)
