Great time to be in Bollywood, say twin sisters Sukriti and Prakriti Kakar
Though elder sister, Akriti Kakkar (30), is over a decade old in Bollywood, it’s only been three years that Sukriti (21) and Prakriti Kakar (21) have found a foothold in the playback scene.
While Sukriti has songs like Kar Gayi Chull and Rustom Vahi to her credit, Prakriti’s discography boasts of numbers like Khamoshiyan’s Bheegh Loon and Katra Katra from Alone. The twins recently sang for Sonakshi Sinha-starrer Noor.
Sukriti is glad she’s getting to sing a variety of numbers. “I’ve sung a travel love song for Noor and a dance remake of Zubi Zubi for Naam Shabana.” On the other hand, Prakriti is happy crooning romantic ballads. “My latest track, Hai Zaroori, from Noor is a love number. I enjoy the genre.” Both singers say Akriti has been a huge support. “We have imbibed her work ethic,” says Prakriti.
While the short shelf-life of singers is a worry for most, Sukriti seems unperturbed. “It’s a great time to be in the music circuit because composers and filmmakers are open to experimentation. A range of voices are being tried, and there’s scope for opportunity, quite unlike a decade ago.”
