GSLV-F15 Launched Into Space: ISRO Hits 100th Rocket Launch Milestone

Sriharikota/Hyderabad, Jan 29 (Maxim News): ISRO’s historic 100th launch was successful. The GSLV-F15 rocket was launched from Shair in Sriharikota. The rocket carried the NVS-02 satellite and launched into space. The satellite successfully entered orbit.

NVS-02 satellite, an indigenous navigation satellite system developed by ISRO scientists. It weighs 2250 kg. It is the second of the new generation navigation satellites. Since this was the first launch for V. Narayanan, who took charge as the head of ISRO, he supervised all the processes. The satellite launch will be useful for geographical, air, and maritime navigation services. It will provide technology in agriculture, aircraft management,t and location-based services in mobile devices.

ISRO Chairman Congratulates Scientists

Chairman Narayanan congratulated ISRO scientists. He said that the first launch undertaken this year was successful. He explained that a navigation satellite had been launched into a fixed orbit. He said that the 100th launch will be a milestone. The NVS-02 satellite will serve for ten years. ISRO’s success story has continued since the time of Vikram Sarabhai.

Till now, we have developed 6 generations of launch vehicles. The first launch vehicle launch was conducted in 1979 under the leadership of Abdul Kalam. So far, 100 launches have been conducted from Sriharikota. In 100 launches 548 satellites have been sent into orbit. We have undertaken 3 Chandrayaan, Mass Orbiter, Aditya, and SRE missions, Narayanan said.
