Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao said that irrigation will be provided for two crops under the Singur project by filling the Singur reservoir with Godavari water after completing the Kaleshwaram project.
Addressing a meeting in Andole Constituency after laying the foundation stone for construction of Rythu Bazaar and inaugurating a paddy procurement centre in Jogipet town on Saturday, the Minister said that water can be provided for a third crop under Singur and Ghanpur projects after completing the digging of canals.
“We have done what the Congress and Telugu Desam could not do in 70 years after independence,” he said. Suggesting to farmers to dry paddy properly before taking it to market yards, Harish Rao said that they would provide Rs 1,590 a quintal if the paddy is having more than 17 per cent of moisture content.
MLA P Babu Mohan, Collector Vasam Venkateshwarlu and others were present. Later, the Minister participated in other programmes in Narayanakhed Assembly Constituency. MLA, Naraynakhed, M Bhupal Reddy and others were present.
