Harish Rao Condemns Demolitions In Khammam’s Vinoba Nagar
Hyderabad, Feb. 24 (Maxim News : BRS leader and former minister Harish Rao strongly condemned the demolitions carried out in Vinoba Nagar of Khammam city.
In a statement released on Tuesday, he described the demolition of houses built by poor families as a “highly inhuman act.” Harish alleged that thousands of police personnel were deployed to create a war-like atmosphere before demolishing the houses.
Questioning the government, he asked whether it was a democracy or a police state. He also wondered why such massive police deployment from multiple districts was required against poor families.
Harish Rao further alleged that the media was prevented from covering the demolitions. According to him, stopping media access reflects fear and an attempt to hide alleged wrongdoing.
Harish criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, stating that while they had promised Indiramma houses during elections, they were now demolishing existing homes and leaving poor families homeless.
Rao said many affected families had constructed their houses with lifelong savings and loans. Demolishing them without proper notices or alternative arrangements, he claimed, was unjust and unacceptable.
Harish Rao demanded that the demolitions be stopped immediately and that police forces be withdrawn from the area. He assured that the BRS party would stand by the affected families until justice is delivered.
Harish also warned that if poor people lose their homes, the ruling party may face political consequences. Harish Rao further stated that not even an inch of land should be disturbed without providing proper rehabilitation to displaced families.
According to him, the Congress government would have to answer for the tears of Khammam residents. (Maxim News)
