Harish Rao Explained Each Of The 20 Questions Raised By Kaleshwaram Commission With Evidence

Hyderabad, June 9 (Maxim News): The interrogation of former minister and Siddipet MLA Harish Rao before the Kaleshwaram Commission has ended. In the interrogation that continued for 40 minutes, Harish Rao answered all the questions asked by the Commissioner Chairman, PC Ghosh. A total of 20 questions were asked. Harish Rao answered each question by submitting evidence.

The Commission mainly questioned Harish Rao on the Kaleshwaram Corporation and changes in designs.  The Commission questioned him on filling water in barrages and preparing designs. Harish Rao said that Medigadda was built because Maharashtra did not agree. Harish Rao showed the Kaleshwaram project design before the commission. Harish Rao gave answers based on the JVs and documents before the commission. The Commission asked Harsh Rao how many days he served as the Irrigation Minister.

The Commissioner asked, “Why was the JV 115 Minterial Sub-Committee formed? What issues did the Ministerial Sub-Committee study? Harish Rao said that the then government formed a subcommittee to provide more water to the farmers. The sub-committees were Tummala Nageswara Rao, Etala Rajender. Harish Rao. Medigadda was constructed as per the suggestions of CWC and retired engineers. Since Maharashtra did not agree, we shifted it from Tummidi Hatti to Medigadda. CWC said that if we want to provide water to more than 16 lakh ayacuts, the number of reservoirs should be increased. We increased the number of barrages and reservoirs only as per the suggestions of the CWC. The construction of Medigadda was not a decision of one person. Ministers and officials met several times before the construction of Medigadda. Based on the reports of VAPCONS, we constructed the medigadda Annaram Sundilla barrages. Retired engineers also gave reports that Medigadda should be constructed.

The Commission questioned, “Have you taken any steps to change the location of Annaram Sundilla?  Harish Rao replied. “The location change issue is purely technical. Locations have changed based on technical reports. Changing the locations of barrages and projects is nothing new now. In the past, projects like Nagarjuna Sagar and Kantakapalli have had their locations changed.

The Commissioner questioned, “Does the High Power Committee have the authority to change the locations of projects? Harish Rao replied that the then government gave all powers to the High Power Committee.

The Commission questioned, “What was the reason for the formation of Kaleshwaram Corporation?  Harish Rao replied, “We have set up a corporation for loans.

Commission questioned, How did you intend to repay the loans taken through the Corporation?” Harish Rao replied, “We thought we would have to sell the water and repay the loans.

Commission question: Has the corporation generated revenue? But how much has it done?  Harish Rao replied that it was delayed for two years due to COVID-19. 

Commission questioned, Why were the construction companies given the site late?  Harish Rao replied, Usually, sites are slightly delayed depending on the conditions at the time.

Commission questioned, “Did the expert committee say that water can be supplied directly from Medigadda to Mid Manair? Harish Rao replied that the expert committee said that it was not possible to provide water directly. 

Commission questioned, How much water has been stored through Kaleshwaram? Harish Rao replied  We have stored 141 TMC of water through reservoirs. 

Commission questioned, Have you stored water in the barrages up to the full level tank? Harish Rao replied Only the authorities take care of the technical aspects. 

The Commission asked, “Has the government given orders to fill the barrages with water? Harish Rao replied that no one ordered the barrages to be filled with water.  (Maxim News)
