HC Asks Govt To Submit Report On Vegetable Prices

Hyderabad, April 21 (Maxim News): Telangana High Court said state government to submit a report on prices of vegetables in market by April 29. A division bench of the court has passed these orders while dealing with a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) alleging that the vendors were fleecing the customers by selling the vegetables at exorbitant price.

Appearing on behalf of the state government, the advocate general of the state BS Prasad told the HC that the prices of the vegetables had come down by 6 percent this year when compared with the prices of the last year. The division bench of the HC also took up the hearing of the case related to the supply of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to health Department staff who are treating corona virus positive patients. The AG told the HC that they had provided the PPEs and N-95 masks to all the health department employees involved in the treatment of the patients. However the counsel for the petitioners objected to the statement of the AG and said that many hospitals did not have the corona virus protection kits. This has prompted the HC to issue orders to superintendents of all the government hospitals which are treating corona virus patients and suspects to submit a report informing it weather they received the protection kits or not by May 6.

Later the HC took up the hearing of the case filed on the problems faced by migrant workers. Responding on the issue, The AG told the HC that of the total 3 lakh migrant labourers from the state, 2 lakh were living in shelters set up by the state government. Intervening at this juncture the HC asked about the status of the remaining one lakh migrant workers. Following this the AG sought time from the court to submit a report in the issue prompting the HC to adjourn the matter till May 6. (Maxim News)
