Hyderabad, June 11(Maxim News): Telangana High Court adjourned the hearing in sensational CLP merger into ruling TRS party case to June 12. The case was filed by TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Congress MLA Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka urging the HC to suspend the official bulletin issued by the Speaker of the Telangana Assembly merging the CLP into the ruling TRS party on June 6.
They also urged the HC to direct the Assembly Speaker to complete the process till hearing on complaints filed by them urging him to disqualify all the 12 defected MLAs of the party within 90 days. The two Congress leaders also urged a division bench of the High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice RS Chauhan and Justice Shameem Akhtar that the bulletin issued by the Speaker was against the provisions of the X schedule and Articles 101, 191 and 324 of the Indian and constitution.
Arguing the case on behalf of the petitioners, advocate Jandhyala Ravi Shankar told the HC that the power to merge a political party into another political rests with the Election Commission of India and not the Speaker of the House. He also brought to the notice of the HC that they filed two similar cases against the defected MLAs and MLCs of the party earlier.
Meanwhile, the HC issued notices to the ten defected MLAs and four defected MLCs of the Congress and adjourned the matter for four weeks. (Maxim News)
