Hearing Held in Supreme Court on the Petition by TS Govt

Supreme Court | Delhi/Hyderabad, April 25 (Maxim News) A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on the petition filed by the Telangana government alleging that the Governor has not approved the Bills passed by the State Assembly and kept them pending.

The Supreme Court said that the Governor has the authority to send back the bills for clarification. Hence closed the case stating that no bills are pending at present.

During the hearing, the lawyer for the Governor told the Court that there were no bills pending with the Governor. He said that the Governor has sought clarification from the government regarding the two bills.

Dushyant Dave, Advocate on behalf of the Telangana government argued that there is a situation to depend on the benevolence of the Governors. He told the Court that it was not correct for the Governor to keep the pending bills with her for a long time.

Dushyant Dave brought to the attention of the Court that bills are being settled quickly in states like Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. He said that the orders should be given to approve the bills within a fixed period of time. After hearing the arguments of both sides, the Supreme Court said that it is closing the hearing of the case as the bills are not pending. (Maxim News)
