Key comments during Legislative Council visit

Speaking to the media after meeting Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Kavitha said she had come to formally request acceptance of her resignation. During her interaction, she condemned demands that former Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who holds a responsible position, should be arrested or hanged, calling such language unacceptable in a democracy.

Kavitha said merely hearing words suggesting that KCR should be hanged made her blood boil. She asserted that KCR had fought selflessly for the creation of a separate Telangana state, without regard for his own life. Comparing KCR to Ajmal Kasab, she said, was completely wrong and unacceptable. She remarked that if such extreme language were to be used, then those making such statements should introspect before speaking against a movement leader.

She further stated that KCR should counter the ruling party strongly by speaking in the Assembly, particularly on the issue of Krishna river waters. Kavitha criticised the Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leadership for appointing what she termed “inexperienced voices” as deputy floor leaders and said the party’s survival depended on KCR’s active presence in the Assembly.

Raising governance issues, Kavitha alleged that a single file has been pending in the finance department for nine months, accusing the government of inefficiency. She claimed that BRS was being blamed to divert attention from the ruling party’s failures.

On inter-state water disputes, Kavitha warned that Andhra Pradesh leaders are attempting to permanently divert Telangana’s share of river waters. She expressed concern that Telangana leaders lack the unity displayed by their Andhra counterparts and stressed that crucial issues like river water sharing should not be left to the whims of individuals.

She concluded by reiterating that the government must act responsibly and refrain from using inflammatory language that undermines democratic values.
