Heavy Rainfall to Hit 16 Districts of Telangana

Heavy Rainfall | Hyderabad: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in 16 districts of the state on Wednesday.

Heavy downpours are anticipated in Nizamabad, Rajanna Sirisilla, Karimnagar, Jayashankar Bhupapalalli, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Siddipet, Rangareddy, Medchal Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy districts.

Light showers accompanied by strong winds are expected. The Meteorological Department also forecasts moderate rainfall in various areas of the adjoining districts of Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Medak, and Rangareddy on Thursday.

Heavy Rainfall

Recorded rainfall figures indicate 6.9 cm across the state on Tuesday. The highest rainfall, measuring 6.9 cm, was recorded in Bommala Ramaram of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. Thoguta mandal in Venkatravpet of Siddipet district recorded 6.5 cm, Peerjadiguda in Medipalli mandal of Medchal Malkajigiri district recorded 6.5 cm, Eldurthi in Medak district recorded 6 cm, Islampur in Tupran mandal recorded 5.8 cm, and Shankarampet recorded 5.1 cm of rainfall.

Two fatalities due to lightning were reported: a farmer in Siddipet district and a woman in Medak district. Kadari Srisailam (45), a farmer from Japtilingareddypalli, Thoguta mandal of Siddipet district, was working in the fields on Tuesday evening when he sought shelter under a nearby tree during the rain. He was struck by lightning and lost consciousness, succumbing to the incident despite immediate medical attention at Siddipet Government Hospital. Ellamma (45) from Gangireddulaguda, Somakkapet, Chilapched mandal, Medak district, was fatally struck by lightning while walking in the outskirts of her village.
