Heavy Rains Forecast Today in AP and Telangana; Authorities on Alert

Heavy Rains | Hyderabad, Sept. 16: The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana today (Tuesday), attributing the severe weather to a surface depression over the Bay of Bengal.

The warning includes the possibility of very heavy rains, thunderstorms, and lightning in several districts across both states.

Hyderabad has already witnessed intense downpours, disrupting normal life and creating widespread concern among residents.

The recent spell of rain has turned tragic, claiming four lives in the city. Two people drowned in Asifnagar, one in Musheerabad, while another man lost his life in Gachibowli when a wall collapsed.

In Andhra Pradesh, several areas have reported continuous showers, with the Meteorological Department highlighting the likelihood of intense rainfall in the Rayalaseema region.

The districts of Kadapa, Annamaya, and Chittoor are expected to face heavy downpours. Coastal regions are likely to witness thunderstorms and strong winds, prompting officials to issue warnings to fishermen not to venture into the sea.

A low-pressure system is also expected to form in the northwest Bay of Bengal around September 20 or 21, potentially worsening the situation.

In Telangana, heavy rain is predicted across northern and southern districts, including Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, and Narayanpet.

Light to moderate rainfall is likely in other regions. Authorities have urged residents to stay alert and take necessary safety measures as the weather department continues to warn of severe conditions in the coming hours.
