Heavy Rains Lash Hyderabad For 4th Day: IMD Issues Alert
Hyderabad, July 20 (Maxim News): Relentless monsoon rains continue to drench Hyderabad for the fourth consecutive day, bringing life to a near standstill in many parts of the city. Areas including Amberpet, Tarnaka, Uppal, Habsiguda, Malakpet, Chaderghat, Saidabad, Santosh Nagar, Himayat Nagar, Nallakunta, and Basheerbagh witnessed intense downpours since early morning, prompting authorities to remain on high alert.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the ongoing rainfall is linked to the formation of a surface trough in the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to develop into a low-pressure area over the North Bay by July 24. This weather system is likely to trigger more heavy showers across the Telugu states, particularly in Telangana, over the next 48 hours.

Orange and Yellow Alerts Issued Across Telangana
The IMD has issued an Orange Alert for ten districts, including Hyderabad, signaling the likelihood of moderate to heavy rain with isolated very heavy falls. A Yellow Alert has also been sounded for fifteen other districts, warning of possible disruptions due to rainfall such as waterlogging, traffic congestion, and localized flooding.
City Impact and Precautionary Measures
Several low-lying areas in the city have reported waterlogging and slow-moving traffic, especially during peak hours. GHMC’s disaster response teams are on standby to address emergency situations, while residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, especially during evening hours when rainfall intensifies.
The Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) has also predicted high rainfall activity in zones across central and northern Telangana, urging farmers and commuters to stay informed through official weather bulletins.
