Heritage Activists Incensed Over Govt., Move To Raze OGH
Hyderabad, July 31 (Maxim News): Emphasizing the demolition of the notified heritage building like OGH (Osmania General Hospital) was against the High Court order and Constitution of India, the heritage activists have questioned the recent Cabinet decision.
Referring to the 2019 order where the decision of the Council of Ministers to demolish notified heritage building Erra Manzil was set aside, the activist Lubna Sarwath wrote to High Court’s Chief Justice urging him to set aside even this Cabinet decision for the demolition of the OGH building.
In Erra Manzil’s case, the court found, the State has ignored various essential provisions of the Law, the essential procedure established by the law, and the directions issued by the court, and has overlooked important factors. The said decision is, therefore, clearly an arbitrary one. Thus, the Cabinet decision date of June 18, 2019, is legally unsustainable, it says. (Maxim News)
