High Court Issued Notices To Sonia, Rahul And Others In National Herald Case
Delhi/Hyderabad, Dec 22 (Maxim News): Another key development has taken place in the National Herald case. The investigating agency (ED) on Monday challenged the recent order of the trial court on the ED chargesheet in the High Court. With this, the High Court has issued notices to Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and others, who are accused in the case.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta appeared in court on behalf of the ED. He said that the ED has completed the investigation in this case, collected evidence and also conducted searches at several places as part of the case. He argued that the lower court erred in not considering the ED chargesheet. The High Court adjourned the further hearing in this case to March 12, 2026.
The Delhi court on Tuesday refused to consider the chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate in the National Herald case. It issued an order rejecting the chargesheet. Delhi court special judge Vishal Gagne said that the charge sheet cannot be considered based on the complaint filed by a private individual, Subramanian Swamy, and not on the FIR registered in this case. He said that it is not possible to investigate it as per the law. The special judge reminded that the Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police has already registered an FIR. In that case, he felt that it would be premature to give a verdict based on the ED chargesheet. However, the court ordered that the ED can continue its investigation in this case. In addition to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, the ED has included the names of Suman Dubey, Sam Pitroda, Young Indian, Dotex Merchandise, and Sunil Bhandari in the chargesheets. (Maxim News)
