New Delhi, August 11: Congress leader Sonia Gandhi said history will remember former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his integrity and service to India.
In an article published in a national newspaper, she said a recent verdict had ended what she called a tragic episode in Indian politics.
Sonia said attempts to implicate Singh had failed. She also alleged that several institutions had worked against the former prime minister.
Sonia Accuses Modi Government Of Agency Misuse
Sonia alleged that the ruling establishment, judiciary, civil society, RSS and BJP had contributed to efforts against Singh.
She said the allegations made against the former prime minister had now been shown to be baseless.
Sonia also accused the Modi government of misusing agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate and CBI against political opponents.
She alleged that the government used such agencies to pressure opponents. She also claimed that some political leaders were silenced or persuaded to join the BJP.
Sonia further criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s past remarks about Singh in Parliament.
She said those remarks would remain among the most degrading comments made about a former prime minister in Parliament.
