HMDA To Distribute Free Saplings At Hyderabad Nursery Mela
Hyderabad, August 1: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) will distribute free saplings to households during the Nursery Mela at Necklace Road from 2 pm on Friday, August 1, as part of the Telangana government’s flagship Vana Mahotsavam 2026 programme.
The initiative is being organised by HMDA’s Urban Forestry Wing in association with city terrace gardeners under the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) initiative to promote home gardening and encourage greater public participation in expanding Hyderabad’s green cover.
Every family visiting the Nursery Mela will receive five free saplings, comprising a mix of fruit-bearing, medicinal and ornamental plants.
The initiative aims to encourage urban greening, improve household nutrition and promote environmental conservation by motivating residents to grow plants in their homes and communities.
HMDA officials said the programme is part of the State government’s efforts to increase green cover and create greater awareness about sustainable urban living through community participation.
