HMWSSB slaps 4,000 notices to construct silt chambers
- Construction of silt chambers will be mandatory for all the new connections
- Waiver of interest has been extended till 31st March 2017
Hyderabad, Jan 6 (Maxim News): M. Dana Kishore, Managing Director, HMWSSB, reviewed Operations and Maintenance (O&M) works, NRW(Non Revenue Water) and Revenue collection issues of O&M Circle-II & IV here on Friday at Board Office.
He said that all the hotspots of frequent sewerage overflows, pollution complaints in the Circles be identified in one week and estimate for rectification be submitted. All the hotspots should be completed within two months. He said consumer vigilant groups should be formed in these localities.
He instructed the General Managers(E) O&M wing to ensure that silt chambers were got constructed by all customers particularly hostels, hotels, messes, hospitals, function halls, dairy farms in their sewerage outflows chambers to prevent chokages.
4,000 notices have been issued to such customers to construct silt chambers. The General Managers(Engg.) should ensure that these silt chambers are got constructed by January end.
Construction of silt chambers will be mandatory for all the new water supply connections, he said.
100 Cr. Target:
Regarding Revenue collections, he said a minimum target of Rs 100 crores should be achieved during this month.
Waiver of interest:
The delegation of powers for enhanced waiver of interest given to Managers (Engg.). Dy. General Managers (Engg.), General Managers (Engg.), Chief General Managers (Engg.) O&M Wing has been extended till 31st March 2017.
He reiterated that disconnection of water supply connections of commercial defaulters should continue, and ensure that all the commercial connection defaulters for more than Six months should be disconnected invariably. Red Corner Notices should be displayed on the premises of defaulters including Government Offices to pay up their arrears.
JAL App Social Media complaints:
The Managing Director stressed the need to redress customer complaints on priority basis. The General Managers(Engg.) should concentrate on JAL App complaints to reduce MCC Complaints; GMITHRA Complaints (Twitter, Face book Complaints).
Further he said Managers(Engg.), Dy.General Managers (Engg.), General Managers(Engg.) should inspect along with linemen during water supply timings and generate JAL Apps complaints.
A separate LOC amount of Rs.1 Lakh would be given to each section to in a bid to increase JAL App complaints and their prompt redressal so that when JAL App complaints increase, the MCC complaints would reduce automatically.
He stressed the need for reduction of NRW(Non Revenue Water). As a first step, he said that leaking valves will be replaced. He instructed the General Managers(Engg.) to submit details of required C.I. valves in two-weeks. Similarly, the details of old pipelines should be submitted for replacement in phased manner to reduce NRW. He also said that leakages should be attended promptly.
As part of NRW reduction an awareness programme would be organized by utilizing the services of NGO to create awareness among customers on-wastage of precious drinking water, fixing of meters to water supply connections.
