Two Nigerian Nationals Apprehended By H-NEW For Overstaying And Suspected Drug Links In Hyderabad

Hyderabad, July 23 (Maxim News): In a crackdown on illegal stay and suspected drug-related activities, the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) apprehended two Nigerian nationals in the city. While no drugs were recovered during the search, authorities found discrepancies in their visa status and suspicious behavior, leading to further legal action.

The apprehended individuals were identified as Aful Clement alias Aful David and Lazarus Chinwenmeri Favour, both residents of Nigeria. A detailed verification conducted with assistance from the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) revealed that Aful David’s visa had expired in 2019, and he had been illegally overstaying in India ever since.

On the other hand, Lazarus Chinwenmeri Favour holds a valid student visa valid until October 2025, but investigations found he had abandoned his academic pursuits and was associating with known drug peddlers.

According to H-NEW officials, the duo were allegedly engaged in drug peddling activities to earn quick money and lead a lavish lifestyle in the city. Despite the absence of narcotic substances at the time of arrest, officials stated their involvement in illegal activities was evident, prompting initiation of deportation proceedings.

“Such individuals exploit student or business visas to stay in India and eventually get involved in criminal activities like drug trafficking,” said an H-NEW official. “This poses a significant threat to public safety and the integrity of our immigration laws.”

The deportation process has now been initiated in coordination with the FRRO, as authorities fear their continued stay in India could contribute to the rise of drug-related offenses in Hyderabad.
