• Government Advisor says Telangana’s religious harmony must be preserved and passed on to future generations.
Nizamabad, August 26: Telangana Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Wednesday called upon people to rise above differences of caste, religion, language and region and collectively safeguard Telangana’s centuries-old tradition of communal harmony and Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb.
Addressing Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) celebrations in Nizamabad, Shabbir Ali said respect for fellow human beings, compassion and standing by one another during difficult times were at the core of the message of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). He said Telangana’s strength lay in people of different religions and communities living together peacefully and that preserving this social harmony for future generations was a collective responsibility.
Thousands of Muslims, youth, Congress leaders and workers participated in the Milad-un-Nabi procession that began from Quilla Road in Nizamabad city. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud and Shabbir Ali later participated as chief guests in programmes organised at Jubilee Hotel on Quilla Road and at a public meeting near Quilla Road and Nehru Park.
Extending Milad-un-Nabi greetings to the Muslim community, Shabbir Ali said the occasion should serve as an opportunity to reaffirm commitment to the values of peace, compassion, patience, brotherhood and humanity preached by Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
“True humanity lies in respecting another person as a human being, treating others with love and extending support to one another in times of difficulty,” he said.
Shabbir Ali appealed to people not to allow differences based on caste, religion or region to create divisions in society. Telangana, he said, had historically nurtured a culture in which people belonging to different faiths and communities lived together and shared each other’s joys and difficulties.
He stressed that the State’s Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb, representing coexistence and cultural harmony among different communities, should be protected and strengthened.
“This tradition of unity did not develop overnight. Telangana has inherited a rich culture of people living together beyond caste and religious divisions. It is the responsibility of every citizen to ensure that this harmony is passed on to future generations,” he said.
Shabbir Ali said the teachings of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) were relevant not only to Muslims but to society as a whole, particularly the principles of peace, mercy, tolerance, brotherhood and concern for fellow human beings. He urged people to move forward unitedly by following these values.
Highlighting the Congress party’s secular philosophy, the Government Advisor said the party had always remained committed to treating all citizens equally, irrespective of caste, religion, language or region.
He said secularism was not merely a political slogan for the Congress but a fundamental principle guiding its policies.
“The Congress believes that every citizen deserves equal respect and opportunities without discrimination based on caste, religion, language or region. This has always been our policy and commitment,” he said.
Shabbir Ali said the Congress Government in Telangana was working to create an environment in which every citizen could live peacefully and with dignity. Welfare and development of all sections of society, without discrimination, remained a fundamental objective of the State Government, he added.
He said social and economic progress could be sustained only when peace, mutual respect and harmony prevailed among different communities.
TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, who also addressed the gathering, said Prophet Mohammed’s message of peace, brotherhood and humanitarian values remained an example for society.
He expressed the hope that people belonging to all sections in Telangana would continue to live peacefully and fraternally.
Mahesh Kumar Goud said strengthening religious harmony, mutual respect and unity among different communities would contribute to the progress of society. He appealed to people to practise the values of love, peace, brotherhood and humanity preached by Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
The Milad-un-Nabi celebrations witnessed a large turnout in Nizamabad, with thousands participating in the procession from Quilla Road. Congress leaders, workers and youth also joined the programme along with members of the Muslim community.
The leaders said the celebrations reflected Nizamabad’s tradition of communal harmony and emphasised that religious occasions should also reinforce the values of peace, social responsibility and respect for all communities.
Among those who participated were Telangana Urdu Academy Chairman Taher Bin Hamdan, Rythu Commission member Gadugu Gangadhar, NUDA Chairman Kesha Venu, Shekhar Goud, Narala Ratnakar, Javed Akram, Quddus and Haroon.
Corporators Sajjad Raheel, Naeem Sharan, Abdul Kareem, Abud Bin Handan, Anwar and Mohammed Ahmed, co-option member Mahender Singh, Asif and Waheed also attended.
Milad Committee president Shoaib Raza, Mohammed Abbu Raza, Rashid Raja, Mujahid Khan, Papa Khan, Javed Khan, Qayyum, Shabbir Razzaq and Zafar were among the organisers and participants.
Youth Congress president Moin, Sami, Riazuddin, Safdar, Afroz Khan, Sadiq Sohail, Shaik Mahboob, Parvez and Eesa were also present, along with Muslim religious leaders, Congress functionaries, public representatives, youth leaders, workers and people from different sections of society.
