Home Minister Lauds KCR’s Gesture—Bathukamma, Other Festival Gifts
Hyderabad, Sept.24 (Maxim News): Bathukamma is a colourful festival of flowers in Telangana being celebrated by women. The festival over the years became a symbol of Telangana culture and identity. Bathukamma falls during the second half of monsoon, before the onset of winter. Bathukamma is celebrated by the womenfolk of Telangana, heralding the beauty of vibrant nature in colourful flowers with greenery, Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali said today.
Speaking at the Sarees distribution function here, the Home Minister said that Kavitha, ex M.P and President, Telangana Jagruthi foundation, has initiated the annual programme of Bathukamma festival not only in Telangana state but in foreign soil also in a Jubilant mood. After formation of Telangana State, the Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao allotted special funds to celebrate Bathukamma as a state festival by distributing sarees to women folk as a gesture from Government by sanctioning around Rs.300 crores.
In a similar way, the Government during Ramzan and Christmas, distributes festival gifts to the Muslim and Christian families in the state. Thus the festival of Bathukamma plays a vital role in the life of womanhood in the state, Mahmood Ali added.
Corporator Smt Singireddy Swarnalatha Reddy, GHMC Zonal Commissioner Srinivas Reddy, Azam Ali, Shaheen Afroze and others participated in the program.(Maxim News)
