Huge Blast In Ordnance Factory: 8 Workers Killed

Mumbai/Hyderabad, Jan 24 (Maxim News): A huge blast took place in an ordnance factory in Maharashtra on Friday. Eight workers were killed and six others were seriously injured in the incident.

Officials said that rescue operations are underway and the death toll is likely to rise. The blast took place at 10 am in Bhandara district. According to initial reports, the blast took place in the RK branch section of the factory. The blast caused the roof to collapse and trapped 12 people inside. Two of them were rescued, while ten others are still trapped inside, district officials said.

Firefighters and ambulances immediately reached the spot after receiving information about the accident.  Rescue operations are currently underway. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has also been deployed.  The reasons for the explosion are not yet known.  After the explosion, smoke was seen from a long distance from the factory.  The police have registered a case and are investigating.

However, Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole reacted to the Ordnance Factory explosion incident and said that this was the failure of the Modi government.  (Maxim News)
