Hyderabad: A hung situation emerged in 35 municipalities as the BRS Party and the Congress Party clashed in the latest municipal election results. Elections were held for 7 municipal corporations and 116 municipalities across the state. Meanwhile, vote counting is ongoing at 136 counting centers.
According to results announced till 5 pm, the Congress Party won in more than 60 municipalities. The BRS Party secured victory in 15 municipalities. However, in many places, there was a tight contest between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS Party. As no party achieved the magic figure in several towns, a hung was formed.
Therefore, political activity intensified in these municipalities. Horse trading was opened in the respective municipalities. Bargaining for the magic figure is going on in full swing. In this process, independents and ex officio members have become crucial for the elections of Chairperson and Vice Chairperson.
A total of 16 municipalities were in a state of lockdown till 3 pm on Friday. The municipalities where the people declared a lockdown include Parakala, Alampur, Narsapur, Jinnaram, Kesamudram, Isnapur, Asifabad, Jammikunta, Janagama, Kamareddy, Amarachinta, Kohir, Devarakadra, Asifabad, Vemulawada, Raikal, Zaheerabad, Mahabubabad, Aliabad, Bodhan, Gadwal, Bellampalli, Kyatanapalli and other municipalities.
According to the results revealed so far, the BRS party has won 8 municipalities. These include Gaddapotharam, Indresham and Gummadidala in Sangareddy district. It also won Jogulamba and Aija in Gadwal district, Thorrur in Mahabubabad district, Ibrahimpatnam in Rangareddy district, Tirumalagiri in Suryapet district, Ellampeta in Medchal Malkajgiri district, Amangal in Mahabubnagar district, Sircilla in Rajanna Sircilla district, Dubbaka and Tupran in Medak district and three other municipalities.
Meanwhile, the ruling Congress Party won in more than 60 municipalities. These include Neredu Charla, Huzurnagar, Haliya, Kodad, Suryapet, Nandikonda, Chandur, Bhutpur, Dharmapuri, Bheemingal, Bichkunda, Banswada, Yellareddy, Choppadandi, Sultanabad, Manthani, Husnabad, Maripeda, Dornakal, Narayankhed, Ashwaraopet, Station Ghanpur, Andolu Jogipet, Sadashivpet, Sangareddy, Huzurabad, Devarakonda, Kollapur, Maddur, Pebberu, Station Ghanpur, Mathira, Illandu, Mulugu, Atmakur, Chennur, Ramayampet, Wyra, Kallur, Bhadrachalam and other municipalities.
Meanwhile, the Forward Bloc unexpectedly won the Vaddepalli Municipality. The BJP won the Adilabad Municipality.
