Hyderabad: Two interstate drug peddlers were arrested with 18.2 kg of marijuana at Secunderabad Railway Station on Thursday. The Secunderabad Government Railway Police and the Railway Protection Force carried out the joint operation. Officials said the seized marijuana is valued at Rs 9.14 lakh.

According to police, the Secunderabad Government Railway Police and the Railway Protection Force acted on inputs and conducted a joint check at Secunderabad Railway Station. During the operation, they caught two suspects and recovered 18.2 kg of marijuana from their possession. The seized marijuana is valued at Rs 9.14 lakh.
The arrested suspects were identified as Abhishek Singh from Uttar Pradesh and Abhishek Kumar Singh from West Bengal. Police said they were allegedly transporting the contraband from Balugaon in Odisha to Secunderabad. They had boarded a train from Bhubaneswar and reached the city as part of the plan.

Meanwhile, officials said the duo was waiting in the general waiting hall of Secunderabad Railway Station. They were allegedly preparing to hand over the consignment to a contact. However, the police team intercepted and arrested them before the delivery could take place.
Later, authorities seized the contraband and took both accused into custody. The case is under investigation. Further details are awaited as the probe continues.
