A major highlight of this year’s edition is the public awareness initiative “Safe With Dogs,” launched in collaboration with the Government of Telangana and GHMC. The campaign aims to make Hyderabad a dog-friendly city by reducing fear, building understanding, and encouraging responsible pet ownership. GHMC will invite pet-friendly cafés, shops, and establishments to attend educational workshops. Participants will earn GHMC-endorsed certificates and display “Safe With Dogs” stickers at their premises as a mark of their commitment. The program will run four times daily and will be inaugurated by the Hyderabad Collector.

Another unique feature of HyCan 2025 is the National Canine Bravery Awards, organised jointly by the Rashtra Raksha University (RRU) Commando K9 Academy and the Hyderabad Canine Club. The awards honour brave dogs from police and security forces across India. Selected stories of courage will be featured in HyMag, the event’s official magazine, and top canine heroes will be felicitated during the event in the presence of senior police and CPO dignitaries.

The weekend promises a host of engaging attractions, including all-breed championship dog shows judged by six international judges, a cat championship, and an aquatic display with rare fish. Grooming competitions, seminars, and workshops will also be held, offering interactive sessions for families and children. The organisers said HyCan 2025 will be an unforgettable weekend filled with love, learning, and laughter for every pet enthusiast.
