Hyderabad: 3 Cars, Rs 1.20 Cr Seized By Rachakonda Police

Hyderabad: A notorious conman involved in several cheating cases was caught by the Rachakonda police on Saturday. The police seized three cars, together worth Rs.1.20 crore from him.

Mohammed Anwar Patel (49) of Al Azeem colony, under Pahadishareef police station limits, allegedly collected huge sums of money from people promising high returns.

In one case, Patel allegedly obtained finance on three high-end vehicles from one Suresh Chand Jain who runs a vehicle finance firm after submitting forged IT return documents and later duped him. Similarly, he collected Rs 75 lakh from a medical practitioner in Golconda and threatened him with dire consequences when he demanded the money.

“So far, seven criminal cases have been booked against Patel in different police stations in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda. The Special Operations Team (LB Nagar) laid a trap and nabbed him on Saturday,” Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat said, adding that the police were initiating PD Act proceedings against Patel as he was repeatedly involved in cheating and criminal intimidation.
