The alarm was triggered after an email purportedly sent by an individual using the name “Abida Abdullah” claimed that four RDX bombs and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were planted at various key spots in the city. The sender specifically mentioned the City Civil Court, judge chambers, and Gymkhana Club, warning that the latter would “explode in 23 minutes.”

The police responded swiftly, initiating emergency protocol and deploying bomb squads and sniffer dog units to comb all the threatened sites. As a precautionary measure, court proceedings at the City Civil Court were suspended, and the Chief Judge officially closed the court to facilitate an extensive security sweep.

Simultaneously, security was beefed up around Raj Bhavan, the official residence of the Governor of Telangana, following another reported threat. Though no suspicious objects were found during the inspections, the Hyderabad Police are not treating the email as a hoax and have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the message.

Authorities confirmed that the cybercrime division has been roped in to track the sender and verify the credibility of the threat. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Telangana State Intelligence Department are also closely monitoring the situation.

A senior police official said, “We are on high alert. All sensitive locations are being secured and monitored. While no explosives have been found yet, we are taking every possible precaution.”

Public and employee access to several of the threatened locations has been temporarily restricted, and the police have urged citizens to remain calm but vigilant.

More updates are expected as the investigation unfolds.
