Hyderabad, Feb 11 (Maxim News): In the presence of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the passing out parade of the 74th Batch of Indian Police Service Trainees officers was held at the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel National Police Academy today.

A total of 196 officer trainees including 166 IPS officer trainees and 28 officer trainees from other countries took part in the “Dikshant Parade”. The foreign trainees include six from Bhutan, eight from Maldives, five from Nepal, and 10 from Mauritius police. For the first time as a part of the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel National Police Academy Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with NALSAR, the officer trainees would receive post-graduation degrees and officer trainees from foreign countries would receive Diploma certificates after completing their training.

Speaking on the occasion, the Union Home Minister said the internal security of the country is always a challenge and said several measures are taken to neutralize threats. He said the government in a major step banned the Popular Front of India and set an example to the world through the action. Amit Shah said the policing aspects have changed from un-directional to multi-dimensional and the officers need to accept new challenges and take proper recourse to tackle the issues.

In his address, the Hon’ble Home Minister Amit Shah first congratulated all the officer trainees passing out from the Academy and reminded them that they have an onerous task of taking Indian Police forces into the Amritvarsh of Indian Independence.

He asked the officer trainees to dedicate themselves to building a stronger India by the time we celebrate the 100th year of Indian Independence in 2047. He reminded the probationers that during the past seven decades, the country has seen several ups and downs and also many challenging times in internal security. He recalled that more than 36,000 police personnel laid down their lives during these challenging times over the last 7 decades and had asked the probationers to lead the police force with accountability, discipline, dedication, and accessibility.

He laid emphasis on the major role played by the Indian police forces in the maintenance of Internal security. This calls for a unified approach and coordination across various agencies.

He mentioned that in the last 8 years, the government at the center was successful in bringing down terrorist and insurgency-related incidents drastically, especially in the three major theatres of J&K, North East, and LWE-prone areas. This was only possible due to the zero-tolerance policy, strong will, and strengthening of the law enforcement agencies which work for the internal security of the nation.

Earlier before the parade, the Hon’ble Union Home Minister paid homage to the Martyrs of the Indian Police Service who laid down their lives in the service of the Nation and paid tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India and the architect of All India Services.
