Hyderabad: Minister for Public Enterprises & Minority Welfare Mohammed Azharuddin and Minister Seethakka attended the FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup Qualifiers in Hyderabad, underlining the state’s focus on promoting international sporting events. The ministers participated as chief guests during the Uruguay versus Austria match held in the city.
The international tournament is being organised by the Sports Authority of Telangana. The event has attracted teams from several countries and sports enthusiasts from across the region.
Azharuddin encouraged the participating teams and appreciated the arrangements made for the tournament. Seethakka also attended the match and highlighted the importance of promoting sports infrastructure in Telangana.

Former Indian hockey captain and Padma Shri awardee Dilip Tirkey was also present at the venue. He appreciated the competitive spirit shown by the teams and the efforts taken to promote hockey at the international level.
Shiv Sena Reddy, Chairman of the Sports Authority of Telangana, attended the event along with other dignitaries. Sports officials and fans also witnessed the matches and extended support to the participating teams.
Officials said the tournament has further strengthened Hyderabad’s reputation as a venue for global sporting events. The city has hosted several national and international competitions in recent years.
The ongoing qualifiers are expected to boost the profile of women’s hockey and encourage sports development initiatives in Telangana.
