Hyderabad: Anjani Kumar Takes Charge as Telangana DGP

Hyderabad, Dec 31 (Maxim News): Anjani Kumar has taken charge as the new Director General of Police Telangana State. Former DGP Mahender Reddy, CPs CV Anand, and Mahesh Bhagwat along with many senior police officials participated in this program.

It is known that the retirement program of Mahender Reddy was conducted at the Telangana State Police Academy this morning.

Hyderabad | From Janagama ASP to DGP..

Appointed as Janagama ASP in 1992, Anjani Kumar rose step by step and became DGP. He worked as an Additional SP (Operations) of Mahabubnagar and SP of the Prakasam and Guntur districts. In 1998, he went on deputation to the United Nations and worked with the peacekeepers in Bosnia.

He got two medals for his excellence in duty management. Worked in CISF till 2003 and then joined state services. From 2005 to 2011, he served as DIG of Guntur and Nizamabad Range, DIG of Counter Intelligence, and Chief of Greyhounds.

He was appointed IG Warangal between 2011-2012, IG Communication from 2012-2013, Commissioner of Police Hyderabad from 2018-2021, and then Director General of ACB.

Retirement in 2026…

Anjani Kumar, who has been appointed as the DGP of the state, has now been given a full additional charge. Anjani Kumar is at the top of the seniority list among IPS officers. Born on January 28, 1966, in Bihar, Anjani Kumar completed his primary and higher education from St. Xavier’s School, Patna, and PG from Delhi University. Received two awards and President’s Police Medal for excellence in IPS training. He will retire in January 2026.

It is to mention here that DGP Mahender Reddy’s retirement parade was held at Telangana Police Academy.

Police officials and VIPs participated in this program. On this occasion, Mahender Reddy received the police salute. Later, Mahender Reddy thanked KCR.

He said that KCR is providing visionary leadership in Telangana. Mahender Reddy thanked him for giving him the opportunity to serve as DGP for five years.. for contributing to modern friendly policing.

Mahender Reddy has served as an IPS officer for 36 years. Telangana Police Boss DGP, Hyderabad CP, and held many key posts. He did a great job in controlling Maoism. Technically, Mahender Reddy brought revolutionary changes to the police department.
