Charminar Police Nabbed A Jewel Thief
Hyderabad: Charminar police nabbed a teenager, allegedly involved in four offences. Gold and silver jewelry and cash, all put together worth Rs 31.3 lakh, was seized from him.
The arrested person was identified as Mohammed Nasir (19), a resident of Fathima Nagar in Vattepally in Falaknuma.
According to the police, Nasir had dropped out of school after Class Three and worked as a salesman for a textile shop in Charminar. However, since the earnings were not sufficient for him, he reportedly turned to burglary.
In the wee hours of Tuesday, Nasir allegedly broke open the lock of a departmental store in Charminar area and sneaked in. He then pried open the cash counter drawer, stole Rs 35 lakh apart from gold and silver jewellery before fleeing the spot, police said.
On receiving information, the Charminar police booked a case and with the help of footage from surveillance cameras, arrested Nasir.
Officials said Nasir was earlier arrested in similar cases in Chandrayangutta and Afzalgunj too when he was a juvenile. He was then kept in a observation home in Saidabad.
