Hyderabad: Police and anti-narcotics teams arrested 13 persons, including two minors, in three separate drug trafficking cases across Hyderabad on Monday.
The operations led to the seizure of 12 kg of hashish oil worth around ₹1.5 crore, 23.02 kg of ganja valued at approximately ₹11.51 lakh and 6 kg of ganja concealed inside an autorickshaw.
The cases were registered by Vanasthalipuram, Nagole and Pet Basheerabad police following coordinated operations by the LB Nagar SOT and EAGLE teams.
Hashish Oil Worth ₹1.5 Crore Seized, Six Held
LB Nagar SOT and Vanasthalipuram police arrested six persons for allegedly transporting 12 kg of hashish oil from Andhra Pradesh to Bengaluru through Hyderabad.
The accused were identified as Gammeli Srinu, 25, his wife Nibiya, 27, an IT employee, Chikkudu Saran, 21, and Pangi Jagadish, 19. Two other accused, both aged 17, were apprehended as children in conflict with law.
Police said four of the accused concealed the hashish oil in 1 kg packets and strapped the packets to their legs and stomachs using adhesive tape. Each carrier was allegedly transporting around 3 kg.
According to police, the group collected the contraband from an alleged supplier identified as Krishna in the Chintapalli area of Alluri Sitharama Raju district.
The consignment was allegedly being transported to Bengaluru, where the receiver had reportedly promised ₹10 lakh for its delivery.
Police said Srinu had earlier been arrested in two NDPS cases in Narsipatnam and Adavi Annavaram in Andhra Pradesh. After his release, he allegedly resumed drug trafficking.
Investigators said Srinu and Nibiya allegedly recruited unemployed tribal youth from nearby villages by offering them money to transport the contraband.
Krishna, the alleged supplier, and Sijo, the suspected Bengaluru receiver, are absconding. Police are searching for them and investigating the wider supply network.
Two Interstate Peddlers Held With 23 Kg Ganja
In another operation, LB Nagar SOT and Nagole police arrested two alleged interstate drug peddlers and seized 23.02 kg of ganja worth around ₹11.51 lakh.
The accused were identified as Trinath Nirike, 40, and Sona Hunthal, 28, both from Koraput district in Odisha.
Police said the accused allegedly procured the ganja in Odisha with the help of another person identified as Kammu.
They allegedly brought the contraband to Hyderabad with the intention of selling it to customers. Kammu is currently absconding.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
Five Held After Ganja Found in Auto Speaker Box
In a third case, the EAGLE team, along with Pet Basheerabad police, arrested five persons for allegedly transporting 6 kg of ganja concealed inside an autorickshaw’s speaker box.
The accused were identified as Mohammed Hamid, 30, Mohammed Abbas, 30, Mohammed Mustafa, 25, Syed Afroz, 23, and Irfan Khan, 29.
Police said Hamid had allegedly purchased 2 kg of ganja from an absconding supplier, Shaik Sadiq, for ₹36,000 around three months ago.
He allegedly sold the drug in smaller packets at higher prices and later involved the other accused in the trafficking operation.
According to police, the group travelled from Hyderabad to Nagpur in Hamid’s autorickshaw on August 15 and allegedly purchased 6 kg of ganja from Sadiq for ₹1 lakh.
The accused reportedly packed the contraband into several packets and concealed them inside the vehicle’s speaker box to evade detection.
Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted the autorickshaw on Monday and seized the ganja.
Police are searching for the alleged supplier and investigating whether the accused were connected to other drug trafficking networks.
