Hyderabad Ganapati Row | Hyderabad, Sept. 21: Three residents of a housing society in Madannapet were detained after a packet containing bones and food waste was allegedly thrown near an Annadanam distribution area during Ganapati celebrations on Sunday.
According to Charminar Zone DCP Kiran Khare, the packet was allegedly thrown from the 2 BHK Police Housing Society while a Ganesh immersion programme and Annadanam event were underway nearby.
Police identified the detained persons as Mohammad Imran Qureshi, Arshiya Begum and Sameena, according to reports. Officers reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and began a preliminary inquiry.
Police said members of the Ganesh pandal organising committee submitted a petition seeking action in connection with the incident. The authorities are investigating how the packet reached the area and who was responsible for throwing it.

The incident triggered a protest by BJP leaders and Hindu organisations in Chanchalguda. Protesters alleged that the incident amounted to an attempt to defile religious offerings and demanded action against those responsible.
Police said the situation later returned to normal and traffic movement resumed. DCP Khare appealed to people not to spread rumours or unverified information about the incident.
The DCP said stringent legal action would be taken against anyone found responsible and that appropriate legal sections would be invoked based on the investigation.
According to reports police had taken three people from the same housing complex into custody after food waste was found near vessels at the worship site during the Annadanam programme.
The investigation is continuing, and the circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be fully established.
