Fast-Tracking Development Projects

Minister Prabhakar instructed officials to expedite land acquisition for key civic projects such as flyovers, underpasses, and stormwater drain improvements under SRDP, SNDP, and H-City programs. He specifically called for the early completion of pending works at Falaknuma and Shastripuram Road Over Bridges (ROBs), scheduled to be finished by July and August respectively.

The minister was briefed on the second phase of the Shilpa Layout project and stressed the need to fast-track tender processes and start work immediately post-agreement. Drain desilting should be prioritized to prevent waterlogging, and emergency monsoon teams must be deployed not just on main roads but also on internal lanes prone to flooding.

Drainage, Sanitation, and Solid Waste Management in Focus

With Hyderabad’s urban footprint expanding, Minister Prabhakar urged officials to focus on newly formed colonies and ensure sufficient sanitation workers are deployed. Addressing the issue of overburdened dumping grounds, he directed officials to explore alternate sites in districts like Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri, and Sangareddy.

He warned that negligent officials would face consequences if issues like uncollected garbage or dysfunctional streetlights persist. The Commissioner updated that about 90% of Phase 1 SNDP works have been completed, providing flood relief to over 150 colonies.

The minister also called for regular streetlight maintenance, ensuring they do not turn on during the daytime, and instructed zonal commissioners to procure necessary materials promptly. Contractors have been given two-month extensions to meet project deadlines.
