Hyderabad: Hawala Racket Busted, Four Arrested With Rs.3.75 Cr

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police on Tuesday busted a hawala racket and arrested four persons, apart from seizing Rs.3.75 crore and two cars from them.

Acting on a tip off, the Commissioner’s Task Force (West) caught Eshwar Dileep Solanki (29), Harish Ram Bhai Patel (35), Ajith Singh (34) and Rathod Kanak Singh Natuba (42), all residents of Banjara Hills and natives of Gujarat.

“On information, the Task Force intercepted two cars at Banjara Hills and found Rs. 3.75 crore in the vehicles. On questioning, the four persons said that they are working for one P. Vijay and Co., a Mumbai-based firm,” City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said.

Stating that the company had a branch in Hyderabad, the Commissioner said the four suspects had come and collected the cash from the company to transport it to Sholapur in the two vehicles when they were caught. They, along with the seized cash and cars, were handed over to Income Tax authorities for further investigation.

The police suspect that the cash is part of hawala transactions facilitated by the Mumbai firm.
