Hyderabad: Tolichowki police arrested a man identified as Zeeshan for allegedly assaulting a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus driver and conductor following a road rage incident near Galaxy bus stop.
The incident occurred on October 3 when the bus was travelling from Gowlidoddi to Koti. According to the driver, Md Azam, a car allegedly scraped the right side of the bus.
The car driver then reportedly positioned his vehicle in front of the bus, blocking its movement. He allegedly abused Azam before boarding the bus and attacking him.
The accused allegedly struck the driver on the head with a ring, causing bleeding injuries. When conductor P. Laxmaiah intervened, Zeeshan allegedly pushed him away and damaged the Ticket Issuing Machine (TIM).
He also allegedly misbehaved with female passengers and threatened the bus staff before leaving the scene.
Police Register Case Against Accused
Based on Azam’s complaint, Tolichowki police registered a case under Sections 121(2), 126(2), 352, 351(2), 324(4) and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police also invoked Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
Police arrested Zeeshan on Tuesday. He was subsequently produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody, according to reports.
The incident has drawn attention to the safety of public transport employees while performing their duties. TGSRTC officials have also stressed the need for action against attacks on staff and damage to public property.
