Hyderabad Police Honours Home Guards on Raising Day

Hyderabad, Dec. 6 (Maxim News): Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, highlighted the vital role Home Guards play in maintaining law and order in Hyderabad.

Sajjanar announced that a special Home Guard Co-operative Society will soon be formed under the City Police Department to support their welfare.

The City Police organized grand Home Guards Raising Day celebrations on Saturday at CAR Headquarters, Petlaburj. Commissioner Sajjanar inspected the parade and received the guard of honour as the chief guest.

Sajjanar praised the dedication of approximately 5,000 Home Guards serving in the city. Sajjanar noted that 2,000 have already joined the soon-to-be-established Co-operative Society and urged others to enroll as well.

The commissioner stated the government is considering sanctioning double-bedroom houses for eligible Home Guards. He strictly instructed all Home Guards to renew their driving licenses, warning that failure could complicate insurance claims in road accidents.

Sajjanar emphasized strict legal action against negligence, corruption, or illegal activities among Home Guards. He urged them to maintain discipline and uphold the Police Department’s reputation.

During the event, commendation certificates were awarded to the best performers in the parade and 25 officers recognized for excellence in duty.

Ex-gratia cheques were given to the families of 18 Home Guards who died on duty or due to other causes.

DCP (CAR) Headquarters Smt Rakshita Krishnamurthy, Home Guards Commandant NV Kishan Rao, and other senior officials also participated in the program. (Maxim News)
