Hyderabad Police Nab Two in Shahalibanda Theft Case – Gold, Silver Ornaments & Phones Worth ₹1.6 Lakh Recovered

Hyderabad, May 23: In a swift operation, the sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team, in coordination with the Shahalibanda Police, have apprehended two men involved in a house burglary that took place in the Shahalibanda area. The arrested individuals were found in possession of stolen gold and silver ornaments and mobile phones, with a total value estimated at ₹1.6 lakh.

The Accused:

The arrested have been identified as:

  • Abdul Wasi alias Waseem (41), a car driver residing in Bahadurpura, Hyderabad
  • Mohammed Abdul Waheed (42), a mobile technician from Bandlaguda, Hyderabad

Both individuals, natives of Hyderabad and long-time friends, reportedly turned to crime due to financial struggles and addiction to vices.

Recovered Stolen Property Includes:

  • 1 Gold Necklace
  • 2 Gold-coated Silver Bangles
  • 1 Gold-coated Silver Finger Ring
  • 2 Mobile Phones
  • In total: 13.43 grams of gold ornaments and 37.64 grams of silver ornaments
  • Additionally, 128 grams of gold had been pledged at Muthoot Finance, Falaknuma

Details of the Crime:

According to police reports, Abdul Wasi, targeting a relative’s home in Shahalibanda, conducted a recce of the location with his accomplice. The duo later broke the main door and the almirah using an iron rod to gain access and steal valuables. Some of the gold ornaments were subsequently pledged at a local finance firm in exchange for cash.

Investigations also revealed that Abdul Wasi has a prior criminal record and was previously involved in a similar theft case (Cr. No. 371/2004 under Sections 454/380 IPC at Mancherial Town PS).

Following a complaint filed by Sri Mohd Khaled, a resident of Shahalibanda, on May 19, a case was registered under Cr. No. 66/2025, Sections 305 and 331(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Based on credible information, the police conducted a successful operation to apprehend the accused and recover the stolen property.

Investigation and Follow-up:

The arrested individuals and the recovered items have been handed over to the Station House Officer (SHO), Shahalibanda Police Station, for further legal proceedings.

This operation was carried out under the guidance of Sri S. Raghavendra, Inspector of Police, South Zone, with the support of SIs M. Mahesh, K. Narsimulu, G. Anjaneyulu, N. Naveen, and the dedicated staff of the South Zone Task Force and Shahalibanda Police.
