Hyderabad Rains: Flights Diverted Due To Bad Weather From Shamshabad Airport
Hyderabad, July 2, 2025 (Maxim News): Several flights were diverted from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad, late Tuesday night due to inclement weather conditions, causing a temporary disruption in air traffic.
According to airport officials, poor visibility and strong winds made it unsafe for multiple flights to land, prompting authorities to divert several incoming flights to alternate airports such as Bengaluru and Vijayawada.
One of the diverted flights was en route from Bengaluru to Hyderabad, but had to make an emergency landing in Vijayawada due to deteriorating weather conditions in Hyderabad.
As weather conditions improved early Wednesday morning, flight operations at Shamshabad Airport resumed to normal, and the diverted flights were either redirected back or rescheduled.
Airport officials confirmed that no passengers were harmed, and standard safety protocols were followed throughout the disruptions.
“Passenger safety remains our top priority. All necessary measures were taken to ensure smooth handling of diversions,” an RGIA spokesperson said.
✈️ Travelers Advised:
Passengers are advised to check their flight status with the airline or through RGIA’s official website and mobile app before heading to the airport during the monsoon months, as unpredictable weather may cause further delays or diversions.
