Hyderabad Runners announces the 12th Edition of the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon 2023

Hyderabad, June 12, 2023: Hyderabad Runners announces the 12th Edition of the NMDC HYDERABAD MARATHON 2023, powered by IDFC FIRST Bank.

The Official Race Tee Shirt of NMDC Hyderabad Marathon 2023, powered by IDFC FIRST Bank, was unveiled. It was jointly launched by Guests of Honour Shri. Amitava Mukherjee, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (Addl-Charge) & Director Finance, NMDC Ltd; Shri. Naarayan TV, Chief Marketing Officer, IDFC FIRST Bank Ltd; Ms Nikhat Zareen, World Boxing Champion and Mr Prashant Morparia, Race Director, NMDC Hyderabad Marathon powered by IDFC FIRST Bank 2023

Addressing on the occasion Mr Amitava Mukherjee said “The NMDC Hyderabad Marathon” is an iconic tribute to the Fit India Movement.

Beyond campaigning for health and fitness, the Hyderabad Marathon brings with it a positive spirit and a sense of belonging to this incredible city, he added.

The top officer of NMDC added that NMDC is a patron of the Government of India’s nationwide movement towards fitness. He urged and invited marathon enthusiasts and new runners from across the country to celebrate health and fitness with NMDC.

We as an organization, look forward to making a difference to the city’s health and well-being, Mr Amitava Mukherjee said.

Welcoming the gathering, Mr Prashant Morparia, Race Director of the Marathon disclosed that it was getting bigger and bigger with each passing year. The 12th edition which is stated to be held on August 26 and 27 is expected to have a record 20,000 participants or even more from across India and overseas.

The Marathon organised by Hyderabad Runners Society and NMDC Ltd together with the Govt. of Telangana announced the launch of their flagship event – NMDC Hyderabad Marathon 2023, powered by IDFC FIRST Bank will feature the most popular, fun and family 5K run, 10lK, Half Marathon (21.1K) and Full Marathon(42.2K).

The 5K run will be held on Saturday the 26th of August at Hitex. This is popular amongst beginner runners. On one hand, it is a fun run, but on the other hand, it supports orphanages and NGOs

On the 27th, the next day, Sunday Marathon, Half Marathon and the 10K will be held. The Marathon starts from People’s Plaza at 5 am, and the Half Marathon at 6 am. The 10K will start from Hitex at 7 am.

The running route or course is certified by the IAAF (International Amateur Athletic Federation) and also recognized by the Athletic Federation of India and the Telangana Athletics Association.

Marathon, which is an annual event, through this we advocate the message of an active lifestyle in a very engaging manner. We also aim to engage the whole city for this Marathon Festival. Other than runners’ health, our activities are also very important to a city’s health. It helps build a cohesive society and promotes the city’s social capital.

The Government has been supporting the annual city mega sporting event since the first edition in 2011, which involves more than 3500 volunteers from the city and runs through the heart of the city, he added.

Considered to be among the leading & challenging city marathons in India, this race also marks the beginning of the Marathon Season in India. It is organized by the Hyderabad Runners Society, which recently celebrated sixteen years of promoting active lifestyles and promoting running as the preferred form of fitness activity.
