Hyderabad SHE Teams Secure Convictions In Two Harassment Cases

Hyderabad, May 15: Hyderabad SHE Teams secured convictions in two separate women harassment cases during the current month following complaints received through WhatsApp, direct petitions and social media platforms.

The cases were handled under the supervision of Hyderabad Commissioner of Police V. C. Sajjanar, IPS. Officials said the convictions reflect continued action against stalking, online harassment and obscene communication targeting women.

In the first case, Chinthalapally Naveen Reddy, a 30 year old resident of Karimnagar, was found guilty of harassing a known woman through repeated phone calls, messages and blackmail. Officials said he continued the harassment despite receiving warnings from SHE Teams personnel.

In the second case, Gadapa Naresh, a 28 year old resident of Langer Houz in Hyderabad, was found guilty of harassing unknown women through repeated phone calls and social media platforms.

Police said the accused used platforms including Instagram, WhatsApp and Telegram to contact and harass women.

Hyderabad SHE Teams Continue Action Against Online Harassment

Both cases were registered under Section 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 70(c) of the Hyderabad City Police Act.

The accused were produced before the XI Special Judicial Magistrate Court at Nampally, Hyderabad. The court sentenced both accused to two days of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1,050 each.

Hyderabad SHE Teams stated that the convictions highlight the importance of timely reporting of harassment complaints. Officials said complaints received through digital platforms are being monitored closely and investigated promptly.

The police appealed to women and girls to report incidents related to stalking, online harassment, blackmail and obscene communication without delay.
