Hyderabad: A 25-year-old software professional was allegedly assaulted by her colleague after she refused his repeated marriage proposals in Shamshabad, police said.
The woman, a native of Jharkhand, works as a manager at a software company in Hyderabad and lives in Madhapur. Her colleague, identified as Akash, had allegedly been pursuing her and asking her to marry him.
The woman had previously approached Madhapur police over his alleged harassment. Following the complaint, Akash reportedly backed off for some time.
On Wednesday, the woman returned from Delhi and arrived at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Police said Akash confronted her near the airport and allegedly threatened her before forcing her into a car.
He then allegedly drove towards Hyderabad. During the journey, an argument broke out between the two.
RGIA Police Probe Alleged Assault on Woman
According to police, Akash allegedly punched the woman during the argument. He later pushed her out of the moving car before fleeing from the spot.
The woman was subsequently taken for medical treatment. Her complaint prompted RGIA police to register a case and begin an investigation.
Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault, including the earlier harassment complaint and the events that followed the woman’s arrival at the airport.
